When we’re doing keyword research and targeting, we have a choice to make: Are we targeting broader keywords with multiple potential searcher intents, or are we targeting very narrow keywords where it’s pretty clear what the searchers were looking for? Those different approaches, it turns out, apply to content creation and site architecture, as well. In today’s Whiteboard Friday, Rand illustrates that connection.

  1. An important topic well explained… to marketers. Please don't get me wrong but for me as an UX designer with an affinity for SEO this are the basics of information architecture: structure from the most general topic to the most specific. In my daily agency work I see a lot of intersection between UX design and SEO which led me to the conclusion that UX designers should learn the SEO basics to build sites which provide the capability to be maintained well with marketing measures (like content strategy, link building, reputation management etc).
